Two Stories and
Twenty Five feet.
I measured the distance
from my window to street
and wondered quite often
how it would look
to commit such a feat
with my head as a weight to bring me

I told everyone I was fine
for 365 days
and on the last night
of the year
I told Joe why I wasn’t.
Three A.M. and barely
able to talk
I explained it to him
all I could
right before he left.
